Every document session completed through Docuplete generates a full audit trail. It records every significant event — session creation, progress, OTP verification, signature, and submission — with precise timestamps, signer details, and device information.
What it covers
Technical details
Session created, client opened link, OTP verification sent, OTP verified, signature placed, document submitted — each event with its own timestamp, IP address, and device fingerprint.
A summary of the audit trail is appended to every completed PDF as a signing certificate page — making the audit record inseparable from the document.
The audit trail is stored independently of the PDF in Docuplete's submission bank. Even if the PDF is shared externally, the audit record remains intact and accessible.
Developer and Enterprise plans can retrieve the full audit trail for any submission via the REST API — for integration with compliance systems, case management, or archival workflows.
Audit trail events are correlated with the RFC 3161 trusted timestamp applied at signing — providing cryptographic proof of when each event occurred, not just a database record.
The combination of audit trail, OTP verification record, SHA-256 hash, and trusted timestamp creates a multi-layer evidentiary record suitable for compliance documentation and dispute resolution.
